Mr. Kesich was an active lead in a system-wide Traction Power Study for a major passenger railroad in the Northeastern United States, to quantify power system delivery characteristics and interactions with rolling stock based on operating schedules.
This traction power study identified historical deficiencies in the power supply infrastructure of this property, which was inherited from two predecessor railroads that chose very different traction power supply architecture. In addition to optimizing the current fleet and operating schedules for electric service at that time, the study also resulted in a twenty year capital program to renew or supplement certain traction power substations, some of which are still being actively constructed today.
